Upon his sixteenth birthday the merchant marine captain gave him a paltry sum for his life of servitude and a last name. He said he fulfilled his oath and dropped the lad at the nearby port. Many questions plagued the young sailorboy in training. What has become of his family that remains? Why was his father and mother at sea at such a vulnerable time? Why is there nothing of material evidence to prove the Captain’s story? When confronted, the captain replied ’It’s not a story for young boys.’ When the boy turned sixteen, he asked again. He got a name, Van Varenburg. Cloudhopper, named after the ship, has a score to settle with the Captain. Cloudhopper has a family mystery to solve.
